Hi, I’m Rutukesh.
I’m a marketer, lifelong learner, and someone who has always been fascinated by how people think, work, learn, and make decisions.
Over the years, I’ve become increasingly interested in productivity, focus, dopamine, deep work, habit formation, procrastination, and personal development. Not because I have everything figured out but because I’m constantly trying to figure things out myself.
I read books, experiment with different systems, test productivity techniques, and occasionally realize that the beautifully organized system I created is just another way of procrastinating.
And that’s what led to The Finishing Project.
Why The Finishing Project?
Starting something is usually easy.
Finishing it is where things get interesting.
We live in a world full of distractions, notifications, unfinished ideas, open tabs, saved articles, half-read books, abandoned projects, and endless things competing for our attention.
I’ve experienced this myself.
There are always things I want to learn, projects I want to build, books I want to read, and ideas I want to explore.
The challenge isn’t always knowing what to do.
Sometimes, the real challenge is simply doing it consistently and finishing it.
The Finishing Project is my attempt to explore that problem.
What I’m Exploring
Here, I write about and experiment with ideas around:
- Productivity — working better without turning life into one giant to-do list.
- Deep Work — creating the focus needed to do meaningful work.
- Dopamine & Distraction — understanding why our attention is so easily hijacked.
- Procrastination — why we delay things we genuinely care about.
- Habits & Behavior — building systems that actually survive real life.
- Learning — reading, retaining, and applying what we learn.
- Second Brain & Knowledge Management — organizing information so it becomes useful rather than just accumulated.
- Books & Ideas — breaking down ideas from books and testing whether they actually work.
- Personal Experiments — trying different approaches in my own life and sharing what happens.
I’m particularly interested in the gap between knowing and doing.
Because knowing that you should exercise, read, focus, sleep better, stop scrolling, or work on your goals is very different from actually doing it.
I’m Not Here to Tell You How to Live
I’m figuring this out too.
So you won’t find a perfect morning routine here or someone claiming to have discovered the ultimate productivity system.
Instead, think of this as an ongoing experiment.
I’ll share things I learn, things I try, things that work, and things that completely fail.
Some ideas might change the way I work.
Others might last two weeks.
And some might turn out to be beautifully packaged nonsense.
That’s okay.
The goal isn’t to become perfectly productive.
The goal is to become a little more intentional with our time, attention, and energy.
The Goal
I want to finish more of the things that matter.
More books actually read.
More ideas turned into projects.
More projects actually shipped.
More time spent creating instead of consuming.
More deep work.
Less mindless scrolling.
Less constantly starting over.
And hopefully, a calmer and more fulfilled life along the way.
If you’re trying to do something similar, you’re welcome to follow along.
This is The Finishing Project.
And I’m still working on it.
